Nene Group and Nene Warehouse Solutions Team Up for a Noble Cause at Homegrown Care Farm

A team from Nene Group and Nene Warehouse Solutions recently spent a day at Homegrown Care Farm, lending their hands and hearts to a meaningful community project. The team (Katie from Nene Group and Ryan, Shaun, and Damian from Nene Warehouse Solutions) took to the fields to help create a productive vegetable patch.
Homegrown Care Farm, a not-for-profit Community Interest Company (CIC), is the brainchild of Andy and Julie, assisted by Farm Assistants Shannon and Georgia, and a team of dedicated volunteers. The farm operates with a mission of supporting and inspiring young people to seize opportunities and enjoy life.
Their social care services aim to grow confidence and self-esteem, improve health and well-being, foster independence and friendships, and provide practical work experiences. As part of this ethos, they encourage all clients and service users to participate in every aspect of the business, with a strong focus on the physical and mental benefits of outdoor activities.
The Nene team’s project, part of their ongoing community outreach programme, involved transforming an unused plot of land into a thriving vegetable patch. This new addition to the farm will provide an outdoor learning experience for young people, allowing them to participate in cultivating and nurturing plants.
By working on this patch, the young people at Homegrown Care Farm will have an opportunity to learn valuable life skills, from understanding the growth cycles of different plants to appreciating the value of hard work and patience. The fruits of their labour will be a source of pride, and the vegetables they grow can be used in the farm’s kitchen, promoting a farm-to-table ethos and a deeper understanding of food.
Reflecting on the experience, a representative from Nene Group stated, “We’re incredibly proud to have had the opportunity to contribute to Homegrown Care Farm’s mission. The work they do to inspire and support young people in our community is invaluable, and we’re delighted to be able to support them in this small but significant way. The team came away from the experience with a renewed appreciation for the impact these projects can have on individual lives and the community as a whole.”
The day was filled with hard work, teamwork, and laughter as the Nene team got stuck in, digging and preparing the land for its first planting season. The visit to the care farm provided the team with a different kind of workday, offering a rewarding and enriching experience that allowed them to contribute to their local community.
The team at Nene Group and Nene Warehouse Solutions is proud to support Homegrown Care Farm’s mission and looks forward to future opportunities to work together in empowering young people and contributing positively to the local community.
